I our family, you always get to go out to eat at the restaurant of your choice and have the birthday cake or pie of your choice. Thanks for the chance to win.

On our birthdays, the birthday person gets to pick the meal I cook. Since I don't cook often, that's a treat!

Hey Toni!! Look at me the lamoid commenting just cause you have stuff up for grabs. Yeesh, huh?
We've been so super busy this summer, but September's coming = more time to reconnected with my long lost blogging buddies :)
I really don't think I have any specific birthday traditions. I buy birthday presents! HA HA! Thanks for sharing your stuff :) Good luck to everyone!

Hi, love your blog! For Birthdays, my family gets to pick the cake they want to eat!!usually Chocolate is the winner!! thanks....Gina

Anonymous August 24, 2008 at 3:10 PM

This *sneak peak* looks interesting Toni!

The birthday person in our home gets to choose their style of cake and what and where they would like to have dinner - sometimes it's a restaurant BUT at other times it's take-away at home . . . the choice is the birthday person!

Wendalyn August 24, 2008 at 4:10 PM

Birthday person's favorite meal and a nice big birthday cake... Gotta love that. Can't wait for the new stamps

SueB August 24, 2008 at 4:22 PM

In our family we celebrate a couple times; first on the day of the birthday we go out to eat at the restaurant of choice of the birthday person, then the weekend following we usually get together with nearby extended family.

Juliana August 24, 2008 at 5:49 PM

Picking out the meal was always my favorite growing up. This year my mom came to take me and my family out to eat for my birthday--and I had crab legs for the first time. It is also my first time being 39 ;)!

Thanks for the opportunity for the blog candy--that penguin looks soooo cute!

Alice August 24, 2008 at 6:18 PM

We don't really make a big deal out of birthdays in my family, but we do send cards to each other. Traditionally, the card my sister sends to me is one day late. Heehee!

Bunny B August 24, 2008 at 7:33 PM

Birthday traditions? Well, it's usually cake and lunch/dinner at a nice restaurant or a yummy BBQ at home! :) I love birthdays!
Thanks!

I fix the favorite meal for dinner! The last one was just a couple of weeks ago and the now 18 year old asked for philly cheese steak sandwiches. Mmmmm...I think he actually ate five or six of them! I usually get breakfast in bed when it's my day!

Anonymous August 24, 2008 at 7:49 PM

I make a special dinner and a special cake or we go out to a favorite restaurant. We always have a nice time and lots of laughs!

Anonymous August 24, 2008 at 8:12 PM

Our birthday person gets the cake of their choice and the restaurant of their choice. Seems to be a popular way to celebrate!

Janean Campbell August 24, 2008 at 9:56 PM

Oh yummy....blog candy...love this stamp company....Thank you!

Benita August 24, 2008 at 10:03 PM

How sweet of you to offer a RAK for those cute stamps! We don't really have any birthday traditions, except for having cake, which we'll be having in a few weeks for my birthday on the 5th :) Now I just wonder if I can find a reduced calorie cake ;)

jillconyers August 25, 2008 at 4:30 AM

A birthday dinner out with just the 4 of us. Celebrating with friends is a separate party.

StampinCathy August 25, 2008 at 5:42 AM

Celebration candy. Whooo Hooo! Our family always get to pick their meal or pick their favorite place to go for their day. The family gets together on the weekend to celebrate. Thanks for a chance.

Pegg S August 25, 2008 at 6:21 AM

Oh I can't wait to see the new release! I love TCP and the quality of their clear stamps is awesome! Our tradition is to go to a really nice restaurant and you can eat as much as you want! :) Usually we don't overly indulge so it's quite a treat!

Sarah Coggins August 25, 2008 at 6:40 AM

Fun stamps! Looking forward to the release. I have my eye on a few. :)

Anonymous August 25, 2008 at 7:28 AM

Since I just celebrated my b-day on Friday (29 and holding), we pick the cake we want and dinner we want. This year I wanted to stay in with my family, so we had a wonderful meal cooked on the grill with some yummy local wine!

Carla August 25, 2008 at 7:36 AM

We just generally spoil the birthday person, who get to choose foods, activities and what type of cake and ice cream. Thanks for offering the candy!

nisha August 25, 2008 at 7:44 AM

ICE CREAM CAKE! That's the tradition at our house. ;)

Kim Ross August 25, 2008 at 7:47 AM

Our biggest birthday tradition is the fresh strawberry pie my mom used to make (and now I make) for my dad's birthday. He's had one for his birthday -- and other times during the year -- for 40 years now. He LOVES it! :) Now that he's getting older, I try to make several throughout the summer.

Anonymous August 25, 2008 at 7:56 AM

My husband's BD is today, my daughter's and great-granddaughter's is tomorrow and we usually have a family celebration for all of them together, which we did yesterday. It was lots of fun and we had a big crowd at our house. I usually make the birthday cake.

Linda Nicholson August 25, 2008 at 8:15 AM

No need to enter me in the drawing, but was is a birthday without cake and ice cream? I always try to make the boys a special cake (although this year I copped out and let a bakery make the boys some awesomely decorated ice cream cakes for their birthday)! LOL!

Linda

Melanie August 25, 2008 at 8:19 AM

My and my husband's family always calls on birthdays -- we live all over North America so we don't often get to see each other, so for special occasions like birthdays we always make sure to touch base on the phone and share our good wishes.

Jenna August 25, 2008 at 8:23 AM

Our family has lots of birthday traditions... when I was younger, I got to pick out whatever restaurant I wanted to eat out at (normally, Olive Garden)... now that Im older, it is always a famous homemade dish my mother makes that is my very favorite. And, we always have ice cream cake during birthdays because I dont like real cake... so no matter whose birthday it is, there is always at least a mini ice cream cake for me to enjoy!

Anonymous August 25, 2008 at 8:25 AM

Yeah!! I love new stamps! All my kids birthdays are in the summer so we always have a barbeque and a pool party in the backyard with the family. It's such a great excuse to get together!!!

Thanks for the chance at some stamps!!!

Anonymous August 25, 2008 at 8:29 AM

The birthday tradition in my family is the birthday person gets to pick the meal ... either home cooked or eat out. Thanks for the chance to win!

None None August 25, 2008 at 8:43 AM

birthday traditions in our household - eating whatever you want for your birthday dinner and ideally having the day off from work. :)

Thanks for the opportunity to enter!

Darcey August 25, 2008 at 8:51 AM

We always let the birthday person pick the restruant, but the real tradition is the birthday hat. I have a hat shaped like a big birthday cake with candles on top and it is bright orange! I have photos of all of us wearing the hat!

Anonymous August 25, 2008 at 9:09 AM

Our family birthday traditions consist of a favorite meal and cake with lots of candles, ice cream cake usually wins here

Jennifer_GlitterInMyHair August 25, 2008 at 9:28 AM

Birthday traditions at my house are family time together and a favorite meal with cake (of course) and present excitement.

And now that I have kids of my own - a kid party. This year, picture the scene....twenty 4-year olds hopped up on sugar, racing around like wild jackals.

Good times.

Rachel V. August 25, 2008 at 9:46 AM

Cake (of course) and the birthday gal/guy always gets to pick what to have for dinner. :)

For my kids, we also have a Happy Birthday snowglobe...maybe it's made by the san fran music box company....that gets brought out for their birthday.

And we also read "Happy Birthday to You" by Dr. Seuss.

Nancy August 25, 2008 at 10:28 AM

This is a tradition we had when I was a child living at home. When my birthday came along, I would have to buy my brother 1 gift that he would open, and on his birhtday, he would have to do the same for me. It was something for the other to look forward to when the other's special day came. Thanks for the chance!! These new TCP birthday stamps look like A LOT of fun!

Anonymous August 25, 2008 at 10:34 AM

ever since me and my twin sister turned 15 we've gone to eat at the olive garden for our birthday, were 22 now and we havent done anything different! thanks for the chance to win!

Anonymous August 25, 2008 at 11:08 AM

Our tradition is to eat chili dogs for dinner then party, party, party with cake, ice cream and presents!!!

We have 2 bday traditions in our family. The first is we decorate the bday kids door the nite before while they're sleeping and then they have a fun scavenger hunt to find their presents. The bday kid also picks out the restaurant they want to eat at that night and then they get their final "big" gift at dinner. The kids have always loved it and I'll continue it until they leave for college :)
BTW, love the sneak peeks of this set--hope to win!!

Lorien Clark August 25, 2008 at 12:32 PM

Umm, not sure. The kids get to pick out what they want on their cake.

Fiorella August 25, 2008 at 1:10 PM

Unfortunately we don't have any birthday traditions...my husband says that they are all for making people spending money....so usually I celebrate on my own buying me something

imteresa August 25, 2008 at 1:36 PM

I am a big proponent of cupcakes on people's birthdays, so I'm super-excited to see cupcakes in the new release. Whoo-hoo! Thanks for the chance to play!

Anonymous August 25, 2008 at 2:20 PM

growing up, we got to pick our birthday meal. The funny thing was, we all picked the same things every year. Mine was roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, and peas. It's still one of my faves. With our boys, they can pick to either eat out at their choice of restaurant or have a party at our house with their friends. If they choose to eat out, we make sure the restaurant knows it's their birthday so that they get the whole song and dance routine. It's always fun!!

Tracy August 25, 2008 at 3:10 PM

No matter what our family always celebrates with a cake. We don't care if you're turning 1 or 80! It's all about the cake. My mom used to work in the heart of the financial district in San Francisco. And she used to get these yummy cakes from the Chinese bakeries in China Town for my birthday. Ohhhhhhhhh to die for. I can still taste them. LOL! Thanks for a chance to win some yummy new rubbah!

lalalla August 25, 2008 at 3:42 PM

in my family there is a tradition that at early mornig on someones birthday we wake up earlier, and go with breakfast and gifts to his/her room and wake up this person (of course this tradition is limited to close family within our own house,;))

Noelia August 25, 2008 at 4:04 PM

We will be celebrating my DS's birthday tomorrow and I don't know if this is much of a tradition but I always go with them to the party store and they get to pick their theme and what they want for loot bags for their friends. It's simple and yet so much fun for them.

Lara August 25, 2008 at 4:41 PM

The birthday gal (or guy) gets to choose their favorite dessert and choice of restaurant for dinner. Since my b-day often falls on Thanksgiving we usually save the b-day shopping for the black friday sales!

Stamp4hobby August 25, 2008 at 4:55 PM

To celebrate birthdays here, we get out The Red Plate. The birthday boy or girl also gets to eat whatever they want for their special day. :) Occasionally we go out do dinner instead but the kids usually choose to eat at home. :)
Can't wait until the release on Friday! :)

Linda August 25, 2008 at 5:31 PM

The birthday person gets to chose the meal of their choice. Then we have cake and presents.

Thanks for a chance to win!

Sues August 25, 2008 at 5:33 PM

Anonymous August 25, 2008 at 8:39 PM

I have 2 daughters and they each get a nice bouquet of flowers on their birthday, no matter what. They have gotten this since they were babies - I love flowers and my DH hardly ever gives me any, so I make sure my girls always have flowers on their birthdays!

Cindy Vernon August 25, 2008 at 9:15 PM

We go out to a restaurant chosen by the birthday person. But now that I have little ones, my brother usually bbq's at my parents' house. My sister bakes a cake. Mellow but still lots of fun.

Anonymous August 25, 2008 at 10:19 PM

birthdays have never been that big of a celebration in our house, but now that kids are involved, we make it a special day for them..they choose the plans and meals for the day. thanks....

Monica-FC August 25, 2008 at 10:47 PM

my husband always gets me an ice cream cake every year and every year when i get a card from my twin sister i always i have to watch as she is a confetti nut in my card or it will all spill out. if not careful you have a mess to clean up. that has happened more than once.

Susanne August 26, 2008 at 12:45 AM

In our family we let the birthday person pick their favourite food for dinner. We also say if the sun is shining on your b-day you have been nice throughot the year, but if it rains...

Jen August 26, 2008 at 1:16 AM

In our family you get to pick what is for dinner and what kind of cake or fondue you want.

xiumaiyuki August 26, 2008 at 3:07 AM

My hubby would take me out to a fancy dinner. The restaurants are disclosed until we get there. It's been all yummy choices so far. Then during dinner he'd give me my presents...mostly crafts related! hahah...

For him, I'd make breakfast in bed. Cook him dinner. He loves it when I make my famous chicken parmesan. and for presents, it's usually a gift card from Home Depot/Lowes or Sharper Image and he's a happy man!

Mayadiz August 26, 2008 at 7:28 AM

Our family tradition is that the birthday person gets to pick out the type of cake they want. Dad is the official cake maker and they get to help decorate it. We've had some pretty great cakes over the years and some wildly decorated ones also.

Anonymous August 26, 2008 at 7:38 AM

Speaking of bdays, my son is going to be 16 on Thursday, what a nice gift for his poor broken-hearted old momma!! my baby....

Thanks for the opp to win some blog candy too.

Tami Grandi August 26, 2008 at 9:06 AM

In my birthday I try to spend time with my family- they live 6 hours away. No matter what though it's always a birthday dinner with them whenever I'm home!

Sankari W. August 26, 2008 at 9:11 AM

Our special birthday tradition is that each person makes a lights a candle and makes a special wish for the birthday girl/boy - it is very sweet to hear everyone's wishes and to see the birthday cake full of lighted wishes ....

thanks for the blog candy - my bday is next week so these would be awesome!

Janet August 26, 2008 at 9:39 AM

Our tradition is that we always serve cake with candles on it, and always, always sing happy birthday---everyone present has to sing. (Imagine all those out of tune voices....lol)

Love your work!

Book Bling August 26, 2008 at 12:04 PM

We don't have any traditions. Every year we try to do something new. Whatever it is we keep it simple and just have a good time with family and friends.

Ashley Newell August 26, 2008 at 1:03 PM

We always get to pick a place to go out and eat at on our birthdays. In my hubby's family, you get to use the "special birthday plate" on your birthday. I think I am going to paint of those for our family too.

Anonymous August 26, 2008 at 1:09 PM

When it's your birthday in our family, you get to choose your favorite meal for dinner. Also, I always decorate a cake of their request. :)

Sarah/WAstamper August 26, 2008 at 1:17 PM

We always go out for dinner at the celebrant's choice of restaurants...then head home for cake and ice cream. YUM!

kat August 26, 2008 at 1:39 PM

My brother, sister & I have birthdays just 9 days apart, total; not the same year, of course. Anyhow, every year my dad takes us all out to dinner on a day kinda in the middle of our birthdays. Now that I think of it, it's probably just easier for him to do it that way, huh? But that's okay, we all still enjoy getting together.

Anonymous August 26, 2008 at 8:27 PM

Birthdays are very special for our family. I allow my husband and children to pick their favorite meal for me to prepare and they also get to pick the cake, frosting and ice cream they would like to have. My 18 year old son always chooses spaghetti and my 21 year old daughter always chooses chicken noodle caserole -- how funny. I enjoy being mom and making the birthdays in our home as special as possible.

Kelli Hull August 27, 2008 at 12:15 AM

Oh My!!! Well, My Hubby is a leap year baby and growing up his parents never celebrated his birthday, Christmas etc... so when we got married our first Christmas was like he was a little kid.. OK, well Hubby is a Leap Year baby so TECHNICALLY he is only 10, each year on his birthday when it's a Leap Year we have a typical 8, 9, or 10 year olds party, He has gotten a bicycle, played putt putt golf with a Hulk (Marvel Comics) Party etc... I tell ya, he is SOOO silly and yet you can tell he is deeply touched. We all sport our party hats and all, this year his Grampa died right before his birthday so while cleaning out Gramma's house as she had to move the family got to gether and planned a surprise party for "Davie" and Gramma came too. She doesn't do Birthday parties at 97 but she did for Davie. He was brought to tears.... THAT is one of the special birthday things we do at my house....

Rachel Hope August 27, 2008 at 8:56 AM

Hmmmm, besides my mom calling early in the morning and singing to us...ACK!!!! We don't really have anything else we do.

I would LOVE to make a card using these images a new tradition though. ;)

silvia August 27, 2008 at 9:44 AM

In our family, the birthday person gets to choose what they would like for dinner (home-cooked or eating out)
For the past 2 years, my oldest son has baked and decorated my birthday cake (he's 16)

Jackie August 27, 2008 at 10:38 AM

For our birthday we are allowed to pick what we would like for dinner...anything goes, then we have cake and open presents, simple but it works! I love the new set sneak peaks, they have been wonderful!

Noa .d. August 27, 2008 at 2:58 PM

and the birthday boy/girl get to choose the restaurant.

Anonymous August 27, 2008 at 3:49 PM

We go to dinner where the birthday boy/girl wants, or cook what their favorite meal!
